Abstract
This is a points dataset of the location of emission site facilities, including IPC (Integrated Pollution Control), IE (Industrial Emission) and Waste facilities that are currently licensed by the EPA.
Purpose
Used in the Licensing and management process. IPC and IE licences aim to prevent or reduce emissions to air, water and land, reduce waste and use energy/resources efficiently. Waste licences aim to regulate the environmental management of a facility, including landfills, transfer stations, hazardous waste disposal and other significant waste disposal and recovery activities, as well as dealing with emissions to all environmental media on a site.

Statement
An IPC, IED and Waste License application is submitted to the EPA by the facility owner. The point coordinates are taken from the application and are used to append points on to the existing dataset. The coordinates can be for the centre of the facility boundary or the centre of the main site building. It is possible that these coordinates are not accurate as they have not been verified. On occasions where the coordinates provided are wrong, the site is located using the address and maps provided and the point is positioned in the centre of the facility boundary. Each point has an EPA Registration Code (7 characters with the 2 final digits refering the the license version), the facility name, address, coordinates and principle COA (code of activity) attributes. The data was mapped using OSI aerial photography for validation.
